Biography
Dimitri Shevardnadze studied in Munich and returned to Georgia as both a painter and an organizer of cultural institutions. He helped found the Society of Georgian Artists and played a major role in museum preservation.
His execution in 1937 cut short a career that linked studio painting, design, art history, and the defense of Georgian cultural memory.
