Pioneer of Georgian modernism and experimental image-making
Biography
David Kakabadze studied natural sciences in Saint Petersburg before moving through Georgian symbolism, Cubism, abstraction, and stage design. His Paris years placed him in direct conversation with the European avant-garde while his landscapes kept returning to Imereti.
Kakabadze also made experimental films and optical devices, giving his art a technical curiosity that remains rare in Georgian modernism.
